I got this audiobook on sale for $4.95 and probably wouldn't have gotten it otherwise. There are so many better books on this topic It's holding up very well though and an afterword written only a couple of years ago is included which explains how recent research relates to the book. This book was written more than 10 years ago. The Better Angels of our Nature, and The Blank Slate are easier to pick up just listening once so I would recommend one of those as a place to start. If you consider yourself an intellectual, you'll want to be familiar with Stephen Pinker's work. It requires a lot of concentration or you can do what I did and just listen to everything twice, sometimes three times, until you get it. It's a much easier read than actual research papers, and has wit and good story telling to leven the large doses of information, but it's not easy to follow when listening. The twins also like different kinds of books. Ting stuffs as much meat filling into her dumplings as she can, so they look fat and lumpy when they are cooked. Ling closes up her dumplings tightly, and when they are cooked, they look near and perfect. When Ting and Ling make dumplings, they do things differently. Now Ting and Ling do not look the same any more and this pleases them. While the barber is cutting Ting’s hair, Ting sneezes and the barber accidentally cuts a big chunk of hair out of Ting’s bangs. One day Ling and Ting go to the barbershop to have a haircut. They have the same dark hair and dark eyes, and people are always saying, “You two are exactly the same.” This is rather annoying for the girls because they really are not exactly the same. One reason I read fantasy more, it isn’t so much overly political.Īnother thing I didn’t care for was Tony’s demand for Mac to be open about his sexuality when Mac obviously wasn’t ready. Much of this book stressed me out and I like to read to relax. And yes, this happens and is a real thing, but it stresses me out. This takes up quite a bit of the novel, so much so the detective plot got lost. There is a lot of gay bashing/troubled LGBT teens/bigotry in the work place/talk of therapy. I loved Life Lessons, but this second book, Breaking Cover hits personal pet peeves/things I don’t enjoy. ![]() Quite a delight and Harding brought them to life just as well as the adults.
